Serious Side Effects of E-Mycin
What is E-Mycin?
E-Mycin is a brand name for the antibiotic erythromycin. It is used to treat a variety of bacterial infections, including pneumonia, bronchitis, and skin infections.
Potential Side Effects:
Along with its needed effects, erythromycin the active ingredient contained in E-Mycin may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.
Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. However, if they continue or are bothersome you should check with your doctor.
Serious Side Effects
Tell your doctor right away if you have any serious side effects including:
- Signs of liver disease such as:
- nausea/vomiting that doesn't stop
- loss of appetite
- severe stomach/abdominal pain
- yellowing eyes/skin
- dark urine
- Signs of an allergic reaction:
- hives
- difficulty breathing
- swelling of the face/throat/tongue/lips
- rash
- itching
