Major Road Closures Announced
The highly anticipated NASCAR Chicago Street Race is scheduled to take place on July 6-7, 2024, and with it comes a comprehensive traffic plan to accommodate the event and ensure the safety of participants and spectators.
Street Closures and Parking Restrictions
Starting from 7 pm on Thursday, June 27, several major roads will be closed to traffic in and around Grant Park, the central point of the racecourse. These closures include:
- Columbus Drive from Randolph Street to Monroe Street
- Balbo Drive from Columbus Drive to Lake Shore Drive
- Congress Parkway from Michigan Avenue to Columbus Drive
- Wacker Drive from Columbus Drive to Lake Shore Drive
In addition to the road closures, there will be parking restrictions in the affected areas. Residents and businesses have been notified and advised to make alternative arrangements for parking during the event.

The NASCAR Cup Series street race in downtown Chicago will feature top drivers competing in a thrilling event on the temporary street circuit. Kyle Larson has secured the pole position for the race, beating out other notable drivers like Ty Gibbs and Daniel Suarez.
