Italian Olympic Medalist Shows Her Dominance in Budapest

Budapest, Hungary - Simona Quadarella of Italy has claimed her second world title in the women's 1500-meter freestyle event at the World Aquatics Championships in Budapest. The 24-year-old swimmer put on a dominant performance, leading from start to finish and setting a new championship record.

Quadarella, who won her first world title in the 1500-meter freestyle in 2019, clocked a time of 15:40.43, beating her previous championship record of 15:43.28 set in 2019. Spain's Mireia Belmonte Garcia finished second in 15:42.68, while American Katie Ledecky took the bronze in 15:44.93.

Quadarella's victory adds to her impressive medal haul, which includes five Olympic medals and four European medals. The Italian swimmer has established herself as one of the most dominant forces in the women's 1500-meter freestyle event and will be a strong contender for gold at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
