Aces rally to edge Sun in Game 1 of WNBA Finals

Wilson leads the way as Las Vegas takes 1-0 series lead

Las Vegas Aces star A'ja Wilson put together a dominant performance to lead her team to a 67-64 victory over the Connecticut Sun in Game 1 of the WNBA Finals on Sunday.

Wilson finished with a game-high 24 points on 9-of-15 shooting, along with 11 rebounds, 5 assists, and 3 blocks. She was a force on both ends of the court, helping the Aces overcome a 10-point deficit in the fourth quarter.

The Aces also got key contributions from Kelsey Plum (16 points), Chelsea Gray (12 points, 8 assists), and Riquna Williams (10 points). Dearica Hamby added 9 points and 11 rebounds off the bench.

The Sun were led by Jonquel Jones, who had 18 points and 12 rebounds. Alyssa Thomas added 16 points and 9 rebounds, while DeWanna Bonner chipped in with 14 points.

The Aces took an early lead in the game, but the Sun fought back to tie it up at 23-23 after the first quarter. The Sun then took a 40-33 lead into halftime.

The Aces came out strong in the third quarter, outscoring the Sun 22-13 to take a 55-53 lead heading into the fourth quarter. The Sun tied it up again at 57-57 with 6:30 remaining in the game.

But the Aces took control down the stretch, as Wilson hit a jumper to give them a 59-57 lead with 5:00 remaining. The Aces never trailed again, and they held on for the 67-64 victory.

The Aces will now host the Sun in Game 2 of the WNBA Finals on Tuesday night. The Sun will need to win Game 2 to tie the series and force a Game 3 back in Connecticut.
