Humble Beginnings:
Real Betis Balompié, affectionately known as Betis Español, has a rich history dating back to 1907 in the vibrant city of Seville, Andalusia, Spain. The club was founded by a group of students and football enthusiasts, including Manuel Ramos Asensio and Juan Manuel Rodríguez.
Initially named Sevilla Balompié, the club adopted the name "Betis" after the Guadalquivir River, which flows through Seville. In 1914, the club merged with another local team, Real Sociedad Sevilla, to form Real Betis Balompié.
Hard-Fought Victories:
Betis achieved its first major success in 1928 by winning the Copa del Rey, Spain's national cup competition. The club's first La Liga title came in 1935, earning them a place among Spain's elite football clubs.
